Misplaced Souls

A heart and mind besieged
By a faceless voiceless entity
A life defined by script
But lacks the thought of empathy

A new soul is conceived
But is tainted from the start
Archaic thoughts to this day prevail
A cleansing of the mind and heart

A life filled with effigy
Blinded by a shroud
Ensconced in hopes & prayers
Too much remorse to be proud

Posturing and promising
Better days are to come
Some decry, others declare
He is indeed the one

Contradiction with a heart
Intentions are well meant
But because it comes from above
Does not make it heaven sent
