Its daddy day today at preschool, but my daddy didnt go
It made me almost cry; for my friends i would have nothing to show
When i arrived at school, all the girls looked up and smiled
At the wonderful daddies that stayed with them all the while
I went to my seat, and sat all alone
Because i had to wait till all the other daddies were shown
One by one, the daddies went up with their kids to the front of the room
I saw a boy point and say "maybe her daddy will be here soon"
Besty tapped me on the shoulder and asked when my daddy would arrive
And for one second, i almost didn't survive
i said "My daddy is up in the clouds, flying in the sky"
And once again i felt the tears rush to my eyes
She looked at me astonished, then turned away
Apparentally she realized there was nothing left to say
My teacher called my name, it was time for me to share
I felt all heads turn and search for the daddy that wasnt there
I thought about how i was going to tell all my friends
about the daddy that couldnt stay with his princess till the end
i stood up on my seat, and said all that was need to say
"My daddy died in a car accident yesterday"
I closed my mouth, and sat back down
None of the other daddies dared to make a sound
The silence pierced my ears, so i got up and left the room
i waited for my him outside the school, hoping that my daddy would arrive
soon
