What we need
Is what we did not choose
We needed a leader
A man strong enough to say no
A man who's petty family rivalries and resentments
Would not sway his judgement
A man who knew enough to ignore his father's will
A man who lived in his own way
War would never come
The bombs would never drop
Fire and pain would never come
What we needed was a tree of a man
Tall and strong with a head as clear as the water that gives us life
But thoughtful enough to lead us to glory and peace
We needed a great and glorious tree
But instead
We settled for a bush
Short and angry
And jealous of the trees
Jealous of the leadership quality
It will never own
We could have waited for our tree to come
But instead
We settled for a bush.
PS-I refuse to apologize for this poem because despite what certain
ahemtexansahem think, bush is dragging this nations economy into the toilet
over "weapons of mass destruction" that don't exist. war
mongering fascist.
