Fourth Of July

Far away,
In the distance- I hear a lullaby.
Echoing off a calm bay,
On the day of Fourth of July.

I hear a baby scream
Louder and louder
As I follow I hit a stream
Boom! firecrackers & lit gun powder

The sounds stops
Bloody red takes over the calm blue
On my face comes a single teardrop
As a baby's body floats into view

Silence is broken by laughter
Teens come running by
They stare as they see me
They know I'm not just a passerby

This day was a long time ago
That was nine years to be exact
That was the day I heard the lullaby
On the fearful day of 4th of July.
