You, Child, Shall Carry the Weight of the World

With a pained expression of defeat written on her face
She looked to her mother for reassurance
None being given
She fled

Away, away!
The only thoughts that came to her mind

Far from the intolerance and loathing
Gone from the imps that tortured her life
Run
Run
Run

Love and compassion
Never to be found
But ever to be sought

Come to me sweet child
A voice from the woods calls

Quietly and stealthily approaching
Catching you off-guard
It haunts your ever-waking mind

You are the soul-child of the earth
Bear you heart and wear it well
And only you will know how to feel

Pain ravishes your life,
But only you feel.
