I'm strong.
Though I cannot lift cars,
I carry an incredible weight
On my shoulders.
Though I may not fly,
I try my best to keep my head up.
Though I may not rescue people
From burning buildings,
I have saved a friend from suicide,
More than once.

Although you may see me
As perfect
I have more flaws than I can count
And while you look at me
Without realizing me
I am there,
Hiding the shadows I keep in my closet.
Holding the doors as tight as I can.
And for that, I am strong.

so next time you see me
Please notice
That I am more than what you perceive
Realize that you do not know me
You don’t know what has happened throughout my life
Or even throughout my morning.

Remember that
Though I may seem happy
I'm not.
I'm just strong.
Stronger than you know.
