Balance...
- the indiscriminate bringer of Truth -
we must get old to pay for our youth
we must laugh to cry
know – to ask why
crash to fly

I sigh.

but Balance is my friend
and I gladly take Her hand
She’ll take fair care of me
until The Very End
and beyond this Song of Life
beyond this Life of Strife
when death will sever my physical ties
to this cycle
hot, sharp knife

In the meantime I try
not to live a private lie
like the “God-fearing” do
in that, somehow finding virtue
to be afraid of the days
that their “Fearful God” hath made
staying cooped up in their cage
of misunderstanding,

hypocrisy,

rage…

I’ll choose the Balance over that
She has become my non-slip mat
underneath all that I am
She is the turbines in my dam
generating the energy that I need
to metabolize the pain, and fear, and greed
that so many try to put there
for me to hold off with my stare
it pushes the very limits
of what my leaky dam can bear

but then the Balance
calmly reminds
that for good deed there be crime
and for the Balance to occur
for my single being on this Earth,
there has to be a thousand ignorant worms
jealous, scared, and mad
about the lives they’ve not had
spitting at my very sight
trying to destroy me with all of their might
it sometimes gets me down
but I fight.

I fight.

I fight.
