Why can't you see me before you,
Must you always look into the past,
I'm not saying to look to the future,
I'm just hoping this feeling will last.

I don't have his clarity of vision,
Nor even his sparkle of soul,
I'm not asking for you to love me,
But to forget a love lost of old.

Must you dwell in this stale lack of motion,
Content to drown in regret,
Must the sum of your tears fill an ocean,
Before you open yourself and forget.

I never understood real emotion,
or something so deep and so true,
but this unbelievable feeling,
I've just found it and lost it in you.
