Unforgiven

You stand before me with everything to lose
And I with everything to gain
Yet somehow you upset this balance
So somehow we're the same.
For something so hard-won
Should be treasured highly.
This feeble shadow of light
Falls onto the sea.
It is lost in an instant.
All you worked toward is forgotten
The only thing remaining
Is the emptiness, so rotten.
And when you beg me to hear you
Your cries will fall on deaf ears.
I risked it all and lost.
Realized my worst fears.
I'm going to rise above
While you remain unforgiven.
Grown into stronger power
Soon your words forbidden
Will come back to me.
But I'll just laugh and say
I'm sorry
You're unforgiven.
