At worst, she feared
No one would hear

At best, she prayed
She would stay sane

At worst, sometimes
She had to hide

Her mind, at best
Could finally rest

She knew, at worst
She would always be cursed

At least, she'd see
The horror she could be

At best, at night
She would take fight

At worst, it seemed
She couldn't escape reality

In better times, she dreamed
That this joy could really be

At worst, she'd break
And see all her mistakes

When sane, she could have fun
And sees she's not the only one

In the dark, she has scars
She is locked behind bars

In the light, she is free
And there is no end to possibilities

When she wakes, she is cold
And these secrets are never told

When she can see, she is alright
And she isn't afraid of the night...
