Annual Love

Here comes this yearly love charade
A masquerade to share
Love cards, hearts, and flowerings
Ninety nine cent flare

A little banner, kitchen wall
A breakfast brought upstairs
We discuss the same old boring things
The who's and what’s and where’s

"Happy Day" oh spiteful thought
With "Mother" in between
Sign a card, to please her heart
A one-way sympathy

Three hundred sixty fucking five
Until the next day comes
Where I must say into your eyes
"I love what you have done"

Pity grants no empathy
Or mutual despair
I'll find a way to make it look
Like I'm someone who cares

"Happy Day" Dear happy one
Though smiles second glance
Reveals that I despise you too
O' devious romance

Dance-- triumphant masquerade
Track the dirt inside
And when your through with ignorance
Defeat is left behind

Dance for twenty four tick tocks
Crimson mask of childs play
What play on words, what irony...
"Happy Mother's Day"
