Manifestation Of Jealousy

Ever wrapped in jade swathing,
The creature peers out from its trappings in bitterness.
Tiny claws grip the edges of the cloth,
quivering with venomous rage.
Silent in its suffering, blackness in its eyes.

It lies in wait, to claim its prey.
Beauty catches its eye,
greed shines bright from its filthy soul.
The elegant silky fabric conceals it's inner ugliness,
like a green apple with a rotten core.

Drops of crimson taint the plush material,
blood drips out of the mouth of the little beast.
It is surrounded by splendor, but it craves more.
So consuming is it's desire,
that it fails to see the treasures it already has.

Finally, overcome, it rips from the cloth,
screaming and lunging for anything of worth.
But all the beauty around it flees in horror.
And the creature is left alone, bereft of all its riches.
The glow of the jewels has faded, because the dark of jealousy has taken
hold.
