i'm left unable to breathe
as my world falls apart
gagging and choking
with every beat of my heart
pulling me under
in this sea of tears
hiding in the shadows
whenever you're near
don't worry about me
i can take care of myself
at least that what i say
to please everyone else
guess i better get used to that;
you won't always be here
to hold my hand
or take away all my fears
i'm still gagging, still choking
trying to understand,
can't help but pretend
that you're still holding my hand
still gagging, still choking,
on all of this hurt

trying to swallow these words
