Where Have All The Flowers Gone?

There is a song that I have heard
Where we were looking for the flowers
But someone had a need to be stronger
A need for dominant world power

The flowers are gone because the girls
They came and picked them all
And for each flower picked there was a soldier who died
Who no longer would stand tall

And then those girls grew up in love
But it was a love that war would end
So it was off to Vietnam for their husbands
And a few more who we did send

And the soldiers they fought a foreign battle
They died wondering why
Why did we fight these battles in the first place?
Why has this world gone awry?

Then they were sent off to their graves
Most without special recognition
Many thought war was meaningless
Some wishing it was a superstition

Then the perished were forgotten
The flowers grew again
But the flowers were again replaced
By more fallen men
