Long and dreary nights they were
And everything is still a blur
Emotions shifting, as were you
Weary, wondering what to do
The sky was gray, the air was cold
The hazy nights were growing old
A piteous wait to see the sun
The yearning had been overdone
You showed me I could have it all
The sun was shining; I recall
Then all was gone, just stripped away
But you were caring as you say
A final choice to be with me
But looking deeper I can see
That since our path began to wind
You started looking far behind
