**I came up with this poem after reading part of 'The Child Called
It'. It was a book about this boy who was abused by his mother after
his father left them. The book made me cry because I felt so bad for the
little boy--I could never imagine my mother doing that; she loves me so
much, and I can't imagine any mother not loving their kids. But anyway,
this is dedicated to any kid like the one in the story.**
Hold me closer, mommy dearest
Let me touch your skin so fair
As you take my wooden hairbrush
And brush my auburn hair
And when you hit me with that brush, mommy dearest,
Let me feel no pain, no fear
Make a snack, please, mommy dearest
A little sandwich to eat
Cut the bread diagonally
While at the table I set our seats
And when you starve me, mommy dearest,
Let my blood be my bitter treat
May I watch TV, mommy dearest?
Let us watch your favorite show
I'll fluff your pillow for you
And some embroidery you'll sew
And when you stab me with the needle, mommy dearest,
The wound, I'll promise to never show
Tuck me in please, mommy dearest
And as I crawl under the quilt
Tell me a bedtime story
Upon our sorrows built
Tell of when daddy left us
And you promised to protect us
When all you did was dissect us
And cause our love to wilt
