MASTERPIECE

Tucked away in the basement among the discarded ruins
A portrait which once hung proudly for all to see
Now scratched and colors faded by passing time
In the corner etched a signature barely recognizable
So exquisitely rare, true depiction of elegance
A flawless complexion of grace
Anonymous artist left in silence
Amidst the fragmented pieces of rubbish
A true work of art of impeccable beauty
Discarded and abandoned for reasons unknown
Each stroke of the brush represented detailed tapestry of love
Life once given to a simple canvas of a human soul revealed
Brushstrokes from the heart created by palette of splendor
The subject’s face now distorted by erosions of obstacles
No longer a masterpiece for someone to honor
Then the Master of unconditional Love
Reached down and picked it out of the rubble of mess
Restored its beauty then kept it for his own
And displayed it for all the world to see
