Hushed Eyes

My half open eyes follow you,
the resonance of my hearbeats steady to your warm smile.
A world apart from yours is where I've been.
You go on day by day, leaving me barely noticed,
disregarding the flirting glances your brief gazes
sometimes happen to steal from me.
When you look at me, I can't hear the message
your intent eyes may be saying,
yet I wish I could.
What is it that you would tell me
when you only believe love to be an illusion?
What is it you want me to know
but which you cannot speak aloud?
In the quiet place that I am in
never once where emotions are uttered as words
my soft eyes may at times fall on you
and meet yours, slightly hesitantly
and I'll always be quesioning
that veiled thought for me.
