Today I Close The Door

Today I close the door
From a past of inner self inflicted wounds
Emotions trapped in a prison of its own design
Unable to break loose of its tangled web

Today I close the door
To rivers of tears shed in the silence of a masked smile
A soul moaning with acrid pain
Crying out for the warmth of your embrace

Today I close the door
Of sorrow worn instead of love
When doubts leave seeds upon my soul
And cast a veil over my eyes

Today I close the door
To pieces of my heart left scattered
On that cool spring day in April
When I reached out to you and your message was clear

Today I close the door
To this exhausted wounded bird with broken wings
Having destroy itself against a glass door
Now I soar where eagles dare to fly

Today I close the door
And say Hello to the dawning of a new day
A new life
A new chapter
A new ME…
