Is anyone else awake?
Deaf ears on these words must fall
Dodging friendly fire
Marksmanship inspires
The end that is never the end
There’s no difference between foe or friend
Blanks in the chamber, they’ll have you believe
Faces so sober, trusting souls deceived
Mouth less children, still promises they feed
Bullets softer now, still we bleed
The megaphone speaks still pulses race and scream
Things will be quiet soon....
The end they pretend to make you believe.
I saw a man tell his boy about the pains of reality
About the constant struggle everyday
I saw that boy become a soldier
Defending contradictions
And paving the way
So many of us stand in the middle
Looking back to the worst
Looking forward to the fall
Making weapons of peace for the defense
Of the bloodstains on our
Peaceful sidewalks
It seems like we've turned off the
Television of life and we look past the reality of war
It seems between denial and truth is where we're torn
Is anyone else awake?
