Make It Through

I no longer feel the essence,
Of my presence being here.
I no longer feel the need,
For all I know is fear.
I've let myself succumb
To the menacing spells of life,
I've thrown it all to naught,
I've put up such a strife.

It really hurt to leave you,
To sit and watch you die,
I know I did the right thing,
Although I wonder why
Life is a swirling vortex;
Full of pain and sorrow.
But through the fight,
You'll see a light,
That shines a new tomorrow.
