Alone In My Nightmare

This swirling black pool of darkness
Slowly suffocates me
My scarred arm is outstretched
Desperate for help
I open my mouth to scream
And my lungs burst
Ringing in my ears
I pound the ground
Dirt rises and buries itself in my throat
I am engaging myself in a staring contest with the walls of all that is grim
and sad
Where are you?
I need you
To help me through this morbid dream
Tangled hands of those gone
Creep up from the non-existing ground
Curling themselves around me
My heart is pounding wildly as I am pulled into nothingness
And everything is suddenly
Gone
I lay on the floor in a pool of cold sweat
With my own shrieks responding my plead for help
And you’re still not there
