Lies of Death

Shards of glass
Litter the streets
Newspapers fly by in mid-air
Light bulbs flickering in the sky over dark streets
Tires screeching
Mothers yelling
Just for their children to come home

Lies they will say
Why they were out late?
“We just got lost on the way home”
They weren’t lost
They were there
Behind your back
Killing themselves slowly
Just to have a good time

Injecting the foul substance into their fragile body
Wanting a good trip
Hoping that they will get up there
Maybe just one more time

Eyes glaze over
In the dark room
Lights over head
Flickering on pale flesh
Dismembering your insides to see what went wrong
Hoping that they find an answer
To tell your loved ones

On the steel
Laying there
The ruined life
That was once alive
Fragile life now in shards
Newspapers plastered with your face
Litter the ground
Screeching comes from all around
As they lay you down
Into the ground
For it was the last time
