The day I met you
I cleansed my dirty skin
Let the sun rain down on me
Seeing your beauty within

In the clear, river water
With my finger I drew a heart
Kissing the liquid, fresh clean lips
Never-fading art

I pulled a crystal from the sky
Washed it with my smile
Buttoning it in my pocket
Saving it from something vile

I poured my tears into the heavens
Happy once again
Joyous kissing, tender hands
Bliss, you would send

I let the timeless hour
Pass, not without tears
For you my love, if I’m without
My sadness would be sheer

I scratched it on a clean sheet of paper
Invisible ink covering the happy tears
“I love you now, more than ever
More as the end nears”

The day that I saw you
Running your fingers through her hair
I ran out of the damp sun
For no longer did I care

And soon did I realize
Your inner beauty was just a mask
It was non-existent, never there
What you were doing, I did not ask

The river instantly became parched
The artwork disappearing
My dirty lips became cracked
Tears, on my eyes were leering

The crystal fell, a hole in my pocket
Shattering on the ground
Tiny, unfixable pieces
Never to be found

The heavens rained back my tears
Returning my depression
Holding up my red-soaked sleeve
I showed the world my confession

Time then melted away
It was dying on the floor
Along with drops of sad, sad red
Crimson evermore

The paper shriveled up
Freezing in the heat
I lay me down, down to rest
My devastating defeat
