I Watched Him Die

He ran away
As we chased him
There

Gasping with fear
He was attacked
Without a care

Her cold eyes danced
Loving his agony
And his pain

The mud made him slip
And fall
Thanks to the rain

A blade was raised
Above his head
Driven through the chest

And she stood
Whispering to me
"... it was for the best..."

I'd watched
Him
Die

I'd watched
Him
Cry

The memories flooded
His lifeless eyes staring
At me

And then I saw
His last tear
Roll down his face
So I closed me eyes
No longer wanted to see

She wiped the
blood
On the wall

Making it say
"I wanted it all"

Her job seemed to be done
As I stared at that body
So long

She put a hand on my shoulder
Telling me
"He never belonged"

"Let's go home"
I stared
At her

Blinded with
the tears
She was only a blurr

Snatching
Away
I screamed

"Get away from me!"
So she left me
To watch him bleed

But, then
I was startled
By his voice in a raspy tone

"I never thought
I'd die like this..."
He laughed, louder than ever

My lips quivered
Walking over
"You won't die... Never"

He told me
So many
Things

"When you feel
the pain
It always stings"

His eyes closed
Laughing still
While his last breath escaped him

Remembering he told me
"You'll see me again"
And behind the tears
I whispered to only myself now
"... when...?"
