ON A TEXAS SUMMER DAY
IN THE MONTH OF MAY.
A '68 YALIE BUM CAME A SLITHERIN'.
DOWN A WELL GREASED SKID
CAME THIS PAMPERED FRATERNITY KID
LOOKIN' TO DO HIS DRAFT DODGIN' JUST A QUIVERIN'.
TO THE TEXAS AIR GUARD UNIT OF MILK AND HONEY,
WHERE A YALIE BUM COULD STAY
FOR MANY A DAY
BECAUSE HE HAD LOTS OF FAMILY MONEY!
FOR A RICH POLITICIAN AND HIS COWARDLY SON,
THEY WERE ON THE RUN.
TO ELLINGTON FIELD THEY WERE SCURRYIN'.
SAID THE OL' YALIE BUM TO THE CRAVEN SON,
''WHY AREN'T YOU HURRYIN'?''
SO THE VERY NEXT DAY,
THEY SKULKED AWAY.
W'S DEFERMENT DAYS, THEY WERE ALMOST OUT,
BUT THAT'S WHAT THE 'CHAMPAGNE UNIT' WAS REALLY ALL ABOUT!

OH, THE BUZZIN' OF THE BEES
IN THE 'MARY JANE' TREES,
NEAR THE SCOTCH AND WATER FOUNTAIN.
WITH SHINER CASES HIGH AS A MOUNTAIN!
WHERE THE COWARD SANG THIS HARANGUE,
''FOR IN MY OBSOLETE F-102,
I'LL HAVE NOT MUCH TO DO.
THERE'S A LAKE OF GIN
WE CAN ALL JUMP IN,
AND THE HANDOUTS GROW FROM BUSHES FOR WUSSES!
WITH MY MONEY'S SWAY,
I CAN SLEEP ALL DAY!''
THE OFFICERS' CLUB BARS HAD FREE LUNCHES,
AND WHERE COWARDS GATHERED IN BUNCHES!
IT WAS LAND THAT WAS FOR THE NOT SO BRIGHT,
AND YOU SLEPT AROUND EVERY NIGHT!
JAILS WERE MADE FOR OTHERS TO BE IN.
W COULD SLIP RIGHT OUT AGAIN
AS SOON AS THEY PUT HIM IN!

FOR SGT.'S DALE BRANDENBURG, PETER CRESSMAN, JOSEPH MATEJOV, TODD
