My Prayer for My-Self and the Masses

Father,
When I stand before you at the Pearly Gates
And You ask me for my story
I hope that I can say
That I gave only You the glory

And as we prepare to go into battle once again
I pray that this field
Isn’t where anyone’s story ends

We all came here for one reason
To protect and serve
But lives have been taken
Wives left heart aching
Children watching guns fired
Mothers holding a once draped flag

Whether a battle
Is in a foreign country
Against people we’ve never met
With an enemy
Only our Chief in Command knows
OR if a battle
Is on the streets at home
Where the life expectancy
Is 25 years old
OR whether we fight our battle
Against starvation
Aids or cancer

All I ask
Is that Your will be done
And You give us the strength
To make it through this war of ours

Although,
We have committed wrongs
Ours souls to the Devil will never be gone
I only hope
That you will forgive us
So when we stand before You
In that heavenly place
At the Pearly Gates
We will hear You say
“Well done good
And faithful
Servant”

For truly I
We
Are grateful for this life
You have given us

We may take things for granted
From time to time
But at the end of the day
You are the reason
My heart goes on

So, In the name of Your Son
Jesus
I pray
Amen
