Have you heard about the turtle and the hare?
The turtle was slow, he didn't have a chance, but he didn't care.
The hare ran away at amazing speed
It looked like he was fit to be King Arthur's steed
The turtle meanwhile took hardly a step at a time
If you gave him a dollar for every step he took, you'd end up with a
dime!
The hare saw an apple tree and lay in its shade
He would have even dug a burrow, oh, if only he had a spade
The turtle saw the lovely, enchanted pond
"Oh, no!" He said and went away, "I cannot hang
around!"
The hare saw the turtle on his way
He snortled, giggled and laughed, "Why didn't at home you
stay!"
The turtle tossed him a penny while he passed
"That's for you thoughts, knucklehead, I bet you have amassed
At least a thousand dollars, I ain't giving up!"
Replied the hare, "For sure, I will win the cup!"
He laid down to rest again, again and again
The turtle meanwhile went along and passed the lion's den
"Oh, Lion! There's a hare there, waiting to be eaten
In front of the apple tree, he is so smitten!"
The Lion growled and ate the hare, oh, what a delicacy!
"The hare is so plump, delicious and yummy" said he
The turtle slowly crossed the line
He had outwitted the hare one too many times.
