Weeping willow
Shrouding me
Why do you weep
And not be free?

Why do your arms
Bend down in pain?
You say they’re stretched
From summer’s rain
Yet it cannot be
For it is winter still

Weeping willow
I do fear
That you have lost
Someone so dear
To make you saddened so

Weeping willow
Shrouding me
Why do you weep
And not be free?

Why do you never
Wake to dawn
Or reach towards heavens
High above?

Won’t you look
Past rotting leaves
To see the flowering plants beyond
That bask in glowing sun?

For closer yet than you might think
There still lie peace and joy
And still I
As summer’s song
Hold on to hope
To help you carry on

(For weeping willow
I do believe
That all you seek
Is here in me)
