Selfless Silence

She waited in the selfless silence
For the man who introduced her to violence
Depth in the days she wept
Patiently waiting for respect

I see her in the shower
Oiling the walls with her sweat
Panicing, pacing, jaded,
With the fear of his wrath

Oh he meant, oh he meant
to love her
But angry men just love their liquor
Yes he meant, oh he meant to love her
So he said, so he said
So he said

So she waits
As the clock moves foreward
And the days disappear off the calendar
The bruises on her body change color
And heal to get ready for another

Oh lover, true lover
Oh lover, true lover
Oh love her he certainly did
He meant to love her
And he did
With his fist instead of a sweet kiss.
