“The Jacket I Gave You”
So it is Monday
or is it Tuesday
I really lost track last week
don’t know what I want
or maybe I just might
your on my mind again
pounding inside again
and I don’t want you to leave
your picture makes me smile
draped in my jacket and grinning so widely
I never seen you so happy
and I doubt that I’m
I really doubt that I’m
fit to think of you this way
I do not feel that I deserve
a dream as sweet as I have of you
shirtless tired a little hung over
this morning is cold
but my words fill up every page
it’s true and honest each one
I promise I will never lie to you
I want to see you smile every time
even if it isn’t me at least
It can be anyone you would like
I do not get the girl in the end
But it doesn’t bother me as long as
As long as you will smile at the credits
when they roll up the silver screen
and I turn to leave the theatre
and he has got you hand in hand
and you still have the jacket that I gave you
you look so good in the jacket I gave you
I wish it wasn’t the only thing I had
but it’s the best that I could give
my only half worthy gift
to the queen of the angels
sitting on your throne
and I am not fit to enter
the palace doors and look upon you
anymore
you look so beautiful in the jacket I gave you…..
