Second Base

Second base.
The words spun
my mind in my head.
"I'm afraid," he said.
I agreed.
Second base lingered
like a contageous disease.
I brought his face
to mine.
We kissed until we ran
out of breath.
Hearts pumping,
bodies gasping, heaving, sweating.
I rolled him
onto his back.
I pushed my lips
against his and brought
my knee just below
his crotch.
My body burning,
I wrapped my legs
around his waist;
skipping second base.
Our throbbing hips
fit perfectly.
He put his hands
on the backs of my
legs,
and brought them inward,
to my inner thighs.
Though fully clothed,
we managed.
Both done,
we lay in a moist,
sweating embrace
and realized,
we'd just skipped
second base.
