Holding on, Letting go
What's the difference, does anyone know?
Both bring pain, both bring tears,
They both make hours feel like years.
Years pass by, hairs grow grey
Pretty soon tomorrow's just another day.
Letting go of "holding on"
So afraid to be all alone.
Knuckles pulling, fingers slipping
Days spent watching water dripping.
Sit up, Stand up, Pace the floor.
Each trip closer to the door.
I reach the door one lonesome day
Touch the handle, then walk away
Afraid of what's out there, How it could be
I remain behind walls where safety is free.
But then one day my room is on fire
Pushing me towards my fearsome desire.
I crash through the door, gasping for air
And again I'm on my way there...
...but where?
