The Scary Old Man From Sweden

‘twas a starry night, and with a fright
There was hardly a star to be seen
And in the lawn, suppressing a yawn,
Was the scary old man from Sweden

Now I was wild, merely a child
As innocent as a young ‘un can be
I doubt this thug was ever young,
This scary old man from Sweden

The rumors flew, everyone knew
That there was some ghastly fiend
He chopped off heads, there were dozens dead
From the scary old man from Sweden

His house was small, ten feet tall
In it, he’d nightly feed
Where the bodies are stored are all folklore
Of the scary old man from Sweden

He made the press, we’d get depressed
With every macabre readin’
‘cause we all knew a victim he slew,
This scary old man from Sweden

So me bein’ brave, and ill-behaved
I set out after my daily weedin’
To find out more, foolishly explore
The scary old man from Sweden

I walked not long ‘til I heard a song
About the Garden of Eden
Of being cast out, without a doubt
Sang the scary old man from Sweden

This poor old guy, I realized
Wasn’t like Adam and Eve
He’s just different, he laments
The scary old man from Sweden

For a new life he came here to strive
He did nothing bad, indeed
For his accent, though he tried to repent
He’s the scary old man from Sweden

He tried and tried and sometimes cried
His appearance was misleadin’
I came to him, his face quite grim
This poor old man from Sweden

We sat and talked, then we walked
To friendship we then agreed
There was nothing wrong with him all along,
The friendly old man from Sweden

I went home that night, without a fright
I found myself later concedin’
The very next day, a visit I’d pay
To the friendly old man from Sweden

He was there in his yard, like an old guard
Eating some sunflower seeds
We smiled and laughed for a long while
This friendly old man from Sweden

We went inside, where he did reside
Then I saw myself bleedin’
“It’s all right,” he said, “Just lay down your head”
I trusted the old man from Sweden

He gave me a drug, then I felt snug
I wish I had taken more heed
For now I’m in heaven, at the age of eleven
From the scary old man from Sweden!
