Death's Windowsill

Driving into the blood sky
You’re wishing for it all to disappear
Your foot screams into the pedal
Pressing down all fear

Flying into the night now
In hopes of a little freedom
Leaving your life behind now
This monster you didn’t pray to become

Pull to the side of this long road
Breath wraps around your face
Lungs do freeze and lips do crack
Upon this dying place

Engraved upon your spirit like a label of faith
Is the title “Hopeless, Lost, Alone”
A small, wilting rose in the field of tulips
A spec of gold dirt upon the throne, so intricately carved from stone

And in this stone your reflection lies
Those glass spheres so delicately holding your pupils
Of flaking faith and warmth blink
Your scarred flesh cringes as your body comes into view
Touch the surface of this painful past
Your very existence sinks

Like a large glass pebble in the sea of green
Doth your livelihood shred
Downward, farther, deeper still
Kisses and whispers to the dead

View them now, their rotten stench
Flesh hangs off their bones
Unattached, clinging just
Breath in their ghastly moans

Eyes of red anger, rested not
Continually emitting sparks of hate
Let them hold you, caress your face
To be one, undead, decaying, your fate

Skulls of bruised, left from their pasts
Their bones hold you still
I guess you just didn’t drive far enough
To escape death’s windowsill

that was SO not my best
beat changes, i know
gah, needs work
but whatever
