Too Young To Die

They thought she was too young to die
They thought she was so pure
But now that she has gone away
They aren't so very sure

They didn't know her like I did
They didn't hear her cry
They didn't hear her tell me things
Like that she was to die

I tried to tell her things would change
But I saw I was too late
She'd already gone and bought a gun
And was planning her own fate

She told me I was her best friend
She told me not to cry
She told me she was going to show them all
That no one's too young to die

I told her that I loved her
And would never understand
Why she had to do a thing like this
This awful thing she planned

She said good-bye to me then
And always will I hear
The sound of the gun going off
Ringing in my ear

I will never forget her
I will not let myself
I'll tell my kids about her
And why she killed herself

I really, really miss her
But now I know why
She did this awful thing to herself
To prove no one's too young to die
