Does she dream of stars
and fairies in the night?
and even in her rubber wristbands
and jeans that are too small does
she still feel that in her heart,
she is a fairy-tale princess?

She is a princess who has not
yet grown and she likes to
clamber up the old and half dying
oak trees in the garden

But she still dreams of being
a playing-with-barbie girl
who steals her Mum's glitter
nail varnish and paints her toenails

But her Mum only has face powder
now so she doesn't and she
stains the nails with dirt instead.

She tucks weeds behind her ear
playing princess of the fairies again
and she has dreams of having wings
and glitter raining down on her
with real flowers in her hair
she has dreams of stars that
are within her reach

She dreams of stars
and fairies in the night
and even in her rubber wristbands
and jeans that are too small she
still feels in her heart,
she is a fairy-tale princess.
