sunset licks your face
like kisses from the red in your eyes
bite my tongue so i won't tell you
how beautiful you look in this moment
face is tear-streaked
and eyes have wicks of crimson
lip is trembling and fear is growing steadily
the constant growth of a virus
i hope you know how beautiful you are

and yet even as the sun dies behind the hills
and darkness caresses your face
like demented butterflies
and the fear of the night nestles further into your shaking body
the flicker of
the weak candle flame
lets out a few sparks
as you emit a sigh
i hope you know how beautiful you are

each tear that leaves a pathway down your skin
glints heavily in the whitened, pale moonlight
river of what i'd like to take away
and make it my own
i hope you know how beautiful you are

you wipe at your eyes
heartbroken and suffocated
mistrusting and now jaded
with the new hopes brutally crushed
all will to live has faded
from your eyes
i hope you know how beautiful you are

you didn't deserve what was thrown at your
your core did not deserve to be broken
she was cruel
don't believe what she says

i’d love to sit here with you
until the sun burns out with a blaze of red
and we get crushed beneath the sky

i feel so content
just sitting here with you
as you relentlessly pour out your guts to me
you could have done this before

brown eyes like diamond
cutting into the sky
and hair like finely woven silk
skin soft like a corteous voice
i hope you know how beautiful you are

it amazes me how little you saw me there
never glancing twice in my direction
involuntarily invisible to you
a paper figure in the mill
nothing out of the ordinary
a shadow in the shade of the trees
a pale blue in the summer sky
i will always love you
even when you don’t care to notice
i will always love you
even if you don’t love me back
i really hope you know how beautiful you are




my recovery from a writer's block lasting two days.
those two days sucked cow turds.
