What the Rain Doesn't Wash Away

As I stand out twirling in the rain,
Only one thought comes to mind.
About the day you left me,
So far behind.

Remembering the words you said,
And the face you left behind.
The vision of you still burned into my mind.

You said I was perfect in every way,
But said you still couldn't stay.
"Please understand my needs to Live free."

You left me standing in the rain,
Cold and all alone.
You didn't even have the nerve
To turn your head back around.

All I could do was stand in awe,
Of the person that I knew,
Remembering how I felt
And the love I had for you.

Today I still am standing,
In that same exact spot.
Thinking of the man I once knew
That I thought I forgot.

And though I have moved on,
And have loved many more.
The pouring rain
Won't let the vision of you
Be ignored.
