Broken Innocence

I lay down beside you,
In the last hour before the dawn
My halo falls down like a noose,
Like the neck of a silver swan,
This penalty of loving me.
Now my integrity is cracked.
For your jail does not have a key,
And you see now what I lacked.
They will find you, and you alone,
My heavenly presence far away
But before the first star has shown,
I will be caught, and I will pay.
The burning fires, I have all lit,
And the devil shall show his presence…
And all I have to show for it,
Is my broken innocence .
