Barriers

I wish for a moment you will sit
And let me into your world so gray
I wish you would tell me what it is
That makes your eyes so sad and blue

Should not reveal such loneliness
For you there must be better hues
I will sit with you and hear the words
Words that no one understands

I will wipe your tears as they trickle down
And let you know I care
These barriers must be broken down
For light to shimmer through

When you’re alone with ticking clocks
Remember I am there for you
Don’t close yourself and wither away
For there will be a brighter day

There is no other like your pain
No torrent like the rain
That falls from eyes that bear that weight
Would that I knew that drives your fate

Around the fire dance your ghosts
that on one in your light can see
Hopefully someday you'll open up
and perhaps with time your soul will heal

Cobwebs woven on your dismal walls
Emptiness that only you can feel
But if you take this moment now
You’ll find that someone cares
