Desert of Lies

Deception's venom always lays on the tip of his tongue,
Dripping without mercy, and seeping into my eyes.
Before long, that was all I could see.
He blinded my heart and my mind.
I was left to sift through that desert of his lies,
Because all he ever promised me was brittle and dry.
I only want the rain to come and wash away this barren land,
But I know that I will be stuck here forever, under the relentless sun.
