At night I look out my window
And think to myself,
'Wouldn't it be great
To run wild and free?
To laugh with my friends,
As we race through the trees?
To feel the wind on my face,
The earth beneath my paws?
To be one with nature,
And live by few laws?
And once night comes,
Climb atop a hill,
Look out at the world before me,
And welcome the chill?
To raise my face to the moon,
And howl with all my being?
Telling all those
Who don't like what their seeing,
"You'll never destroy me,
I'll always be here.
You'll never be rid,
I'll always be near.
Watching over the land,
That for so long I have loved.
That protected and cradled me,
When you pushed
And you shoved."?'
Suddenly, I here a voice,
Calling me from afar.
Telling me it's time for bed,
As I close the door left ajar.
I look back out my window
And I think to myself,
'Wouldn't it be great
To run wild and free?
To laugh with my friends,
As we race through the trees?'
