A Beautiful Lie

Faraway, behind the light
Caressed upon the touch of night
Over and around the highest star
Lives the broken tragedy you know you are
Upon the shadows of where you rise
Concealed within perpetual lies
Feast on the spirits of those who are weak
Die slowly through the words you speak
Too scared to tell those how you feel
You’d die to know the pain isn’t real
To wake and see it was all a dream
Is your wish buried under your scream
Everyone is pointing their fingers at you
Wanting to believe what you say is true
I’m the only one who understands your dismay
But nothing ever goes my way
I see you suffer and I cry to myself
I wish there was someway you would let me help
You look at me with a haunting stare
It’s as though you know I care
You fall in front of a bleeding tree
Holding out scarred arms, reaching for me
I take your hand, but I only grasp air
Falling to my knees, weeping in despair
If only I gave you the time of day
You would’ve held your ground instead of drifting away
You’re so unique, yet irresistible
Artistic upon hatred, a beautiful individual
I look up at the sky as the rain turns red
You aren’t there, but you definitely aren’t dead
You live within my hollow eye
Staged upon a beautiful lie
