Eternal Sleep

I hear you whisper in my ear
Of love so pure and true
I turned around so blindly
' Twas only a memory of you

A figure sits beside me
An imprint in my mind
I reach out to touch you
But air is all I find

As deaden shadows stir at night
Across the cold still ground
I see you all to clearly
Though you cannot be found

Why do you haunt my every thought
Why are you all I see
Standing there so vividly
Smiling back at me

But you are not beside me
Your voice cannot be heard
My heart cries out for you
But you can't hear a word

I stand before the cold stone
Your name engraved in grey
Your body underneath me
Where it shall always stay

No matter how I miss you
No matter how I weep
You cannot come back to me
From your eternal sleep
