I’ve never written one for you
The one I’ve loved for so long
I guess because you know
I’ve told you relentlessly
How you fill my thoughts
I realize we’ll never be ‘us’
Although it hurts, hurts deep down
I am content that there will never be
An ‘and’ between our names
And the same at the end
As we part our separate ways
I pray you won’t forget me
For I know I won’t
I can’t, you are like
Second nature to me
‘Friends’ is all we’ll ever be
and I am ‘okay’ with that
But yet I still dream of the day
When there is an ‘and’ between our names
And the same at the end
