What Matters

I thought about James,
again, today;
How I loved him.
We had something,
I threw it away
for someone else.
I called you up
to talk about it.
Yet,
the minute I saw
your eyes,
it didn't matter anymore.

My sister and I got
into another fight.
She called me ugly,
she said I was crazy.
I called you up
so you could take me out.
You held my hand,
and again;
it didn't matter.

My parents say I'm rude,
and that I'm a bad person.
I was crying inside,
while you sat and listened.
You drove slowly to my house
and put your hand
to my shoulder,
and you cried for me.

The world may end tonight,
but I know I wouldn't mind.
I just think of you,
of your eyes,
and your hands, too.
We have something good.
When I think of you,
I feel you thinking, too.
Nothing else matters.
