This is where I need to be
but I long to stand beside the sea,
to sing of my hopes with a lovely sigh
and watch with envy at each wave that rolls by.

I'd lay on green grass in my front yard
and ask myslef why staying there would be that hard,
and I'd take in that earthy glow
to carry with me wherever I go.

I hum with the ground and the air
as they call me to stay right there.
I sigh and I cry to avoid the goodbye,
but I leave, and I always wonder why.

Every rock and stone has a perfect place
somewhere on the mountain's face.
Every hill and dale, every creek and stream,
continues, as always, to haunt my dreams.

Forever I'll search and forever I'll love
any patch of green grass with a blue sky above.
Forever I'll stay and never again think to leave,
If I find a place where I can just breathe.
