You don't remember me
For you, it's like we have never met
Although, I've known you my whole life.
You lay there looking at me, and me back at you
You wondering how you know me
And me wishing I had the chance to get to know you better

I still remember the day we got the call
Your disease had slowly started to eat your memory away
You were slipping away from us
And we couldn't possibly do anything about it
We knew things would never be the same
Yet, we tried to hold on

It was hard when you started to forget
Pictures didn't seem to work
The confusion in your eyes told it all.
Watching you go was like dying myself
I remember holding your hand And you smiling up at me
You squeezed my hand one last time
Then you were forever gone

In that last glimpse of life it seemed as if
You remembered everything that meant something
And for that last second
Everything felt right again
