When all hope is gone

A blanket wrapped tightly around his weary body
As he crouched helplessly on the sidewalk
An image of one wounded by the storms of life
Succumbed to its harshness of yesterdays bitter cup
Years of pain and being alone etched indelible on his face
Sadness that revealed emptiness reflected
in the hollow of his eyes tells his story
Once a brilliant man of integrity and honor
Stood and walked among the very best
A home lavishly furnished adorned with gold
What could have transpired along the way
That caused him to diminished to such a degree
Losing everything he valued and cherished
Now crying out in cloying fear into the blackness of night
Stripped of his strength, depleated of all might
Knowing that death was lurking around
Reaching out in total despair for someone to care
Someone to have compassion
For now he eats the crumbs that falls by the wayside
Yet they walked pass him hurriedly
No one sees him or hears his crying pleas
He dies slowly inside as he wipe the tears that falls in silence
Then…suddenly in the quietness of stillness
He felt the touch of a mighty hand divine
Reaching down, clasping him just in time
Pulled him to safety and began to unfold a plan
From God’s perfect love to a struggling life torn man
The darkness still is stalking, but quite a difference now
He sees the light since the hand of the almighty grasped his
One lonely and hopeless night
